Dognappers appear to be at work in Rappahannock and neighboring counties. Over the past month, a rash of disappearances have occurred here, primarily in the hollows around Washington and Sperryville and in the vicinity of Flint Hill.
Most of the pets have vanished over the weekends. Families have Awakened Sunday morning or returned from church to find dogs missing.

Shop Robbed
The Rappahannock County school bus shop was entered and burglarized late Sunday night or early Monday morning. According to Trooper R. A. Baines, entry was gained by prying open a side door to the building.
The officer said among articles taken were assorted vehicle parts, drinks, snacks, a battery charger and gasoline which was removed from several school busses.
Gasoline was taken a couple weeks ago from some of the busses, said Baines. Sheriff W. A. Buntin also reported the theft of gasoline from Rappahannock Coop in recent weeks. Their investigations continue.
