Reports have placed a blue panel truck with “Dog and Cat Research Laboratory” in white letters heading south toward Charlottesville on Route 29 around Christmas. The blue truck was also seen in Gordonsville and Brightwood at the same time that pets began disappearing there.
A second truck from Hilltop Dog Laboratories in Scottsdale, Pennsylvania, was seen in Orange County and Unionville at the same time that a number of animals were reported missing.
Several Rappahannock residents who’ve had pets vanish noticed either a red pick-up truck or a blue van near their homes about the time that their dogs disappeared.
Phyllis Irwin lost a black labrador retriever on December 9 and a smaller black and white spotted mixed breed on December 16. Neither animal was a wanderer and both disappeared on a Sunday.
Irwin is one of the pet owners who saw a red pickup truck near her home. She said there were several unfamiliar vehicles in the vicinity at the same time that belonged to hunters. She recalled that she became suspicious of the red pick-up because “it never went out into the field like the rest of the hunters did.”
