The RCHS Panthers surrendered without much of a fight, 49-63, to the Stonewall Generals at home on Monday, January 21.
Gary Leake, Rappahannock’s leading scorer, sunk the opening basket and quickly followed up with six more points but then he went cold for the rest of the game.
The Panthers held on to a two point lead for the first four minutes before Stonewall contained the Panthers’ offense. RCHS players rushed shots, lost the ball on turn-overs and began to falter on rebounding.
For over four minutes, RCHS couldn't manage a score and trailed at the end of the first quarter, 19-11.
The Panthers began the second period with a little more poise and pulled tt within three before they were hit with another attack of the turn-overs, giving the ball away 13 times in the first half.
