The Panthers played sloppy ball early in the game, throwing bad passes and trying poor shots. After Carl Frye made the opening basket Madison took the lead on two careless Panther turnovers.
The Panthers, even though they were in the bonus spot early in the quarter, only made one free throw. The score at the end of the first quarter was 14-3.
