A landowner or a group of landowners with a minimum of 500 acres may petition the governing body for approval of an ag district for not less than four, or more than eight, years. The proposed district must have an unbroken outside boundary line. The line, however, may encompass properties not included in the district application for a “swiss cheeses” effect. In addition, property owners within a mile of the district's boundary may tack on to the application as long as the core includes 500 contiguous acres.—D. Hutchinson
Recycling
Area residents are urged to take advantage of the paper recycling trailer located at the Amissville fire grounds on Route 211. Newspapers and magazines are accepted for recycling and a trailer load must be collected every two months in order to keep the facility in operation.
You are asked to put your papers in brown bags, rather than tie them in bundles and stack them in the trailer. No metal or glass is acceptable.
