Virginia's agriculture is still feeling the effects of the grain embargo, large carryover of grain, high interest rates and lower prices than last year, according to Commissioner S. Mason Carbaugh of the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. A recent survey shows that corn growers alone suffered a $3.2 million loss, but the total loss figures will not fully be determined until the present crop is marketed.
