Of Public Hearing

The Washington Town Council of Washington, Virginia will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, August 13, 1980 at 7:30 p.m. in the Courthouse at Washington, Virginia, regarding the following proposed ordinance enacting tax on net capital banks in the Town of Washington.

WHEREAS, the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia, enacted Section 58485.011 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, during the 1980 session of the Virginia General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, the Washington Town Council desires to impose a bank stock tax in accordance with said Code Section 58-485.011.

NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained as follows:

That all banks situated within the Town of Washington be and they hereby are, assessed with a tax to equal 80 per centum of the State rate of taxation for each one hundred dollars of the net capital of any such bank so located within the Town of Washington and outside the corporaie limits of any town situated therein. If such bank also has offices that are outside such Town or that are within the corporate limits of any town therein, the said tax shall be apportioned as provided in Section 58485.012 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended.
