No Disfiguring Scar
A lot has been written about problems of adjusting to the disfigurement of breast removal. After reading article after article in women's magazines dealing with the psychological acclimation to the so-called mutilation, most of us have a mental image of what a mastectomy scar looks like. First, it's ugly. Details vary, depending on the imagination but the picture usually is an expanse of angry red scar tissue, similar to the aftermath of a skin graft for a serious burn.
