Wharton
Funeral services for Clarence Earl Wharton of Culpeper were conducted Saturday at the Clore Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Edward Hawkins. Burial was in Sperryville Cemetery.
Mr. Wharton, 80, a native of Rappahannock County, died Wednesday, August 27, 1980, at Culpeper Memorial Hospital. He was a retired farmer.
Mr. Wharton’s wife, Mrs. Ditlie Mildred Wharton, preceded him in death in March. He was the son of the late Sam and Julia Hill Wharton.
Survivors include one son, Earl Samuel Wharton of Sperryville; one daughter, Susie Anna Frye of El Paso, Texas; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Frances Estes of Jeffersonton and Mrs. Elva Batchelor of California, a stepson, John W. Fincham of Winchester; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-, grandchildren.
Also surviving are.fivjt' sisters, Mrs. Addie Keyser of Washington, Mrs. Ollie Dodson and Mrs. Mattie Butler Lake, both of Culpeper, Mrs. Neva Alther of Castleton and Mrs. MinnieLee Fincham of Gprdonsville; and a brother, Melvin Wharton of Culpeper.
