John says it is the competitive aspect of racing and the personal challenge— physical and mental—to do well that inspires him to participate in endurance competition.
“I’m just a horse nut,” says Patty, “just there to see what all my training has done.”
Though Patty feels competitve racing provides a rider with a good foundation, she finds endurance riding more exciting, and hopes to be doing more in the future. Both Alexanders look forward to competing eventually in a* circuit of races—something that time and finances make impossible at the present.
