Holiday Closing

On Monday. January 19. in observance of Lee-Jackson Day, state and county offices and the Rappahannock National Bank will be closed. Post offices, schools. Farmers and Merchants Bank, most businesses and the Rappahannock News office will be open normal hours.

action of the RappahannotJE County School Board for refusal to renew the contract of a probationary teacher, according to a front page story in the January edition of the VEA News.

Reportedly, the VEA has filed suit in federal district court on behalf of Edwin “Skip" Ford, a third-year probationary teacher whose contract wasn’t renewed for 1980-81. The suit claims that Ford’s first amendment rights to freedom of speech were violated by the school board's action.
