by Alexander Mackay-Smith of The Chronicle of the Horse. Eastham hounds are featured prominently in Smith’s chapters on area hunts. The flyleaf of the book carries the inscription: “To a top horse man and a keen foxhunter from a great foxhunting family."

But horses, not hounds, captured William Eastham’s little boy heart. “I knew what I wanted to do since I was six years old...In school, I used to sit and draw pictures of trucks hauling horses. My teachers all thought I was doing class work.” he chuckled.
