HEEL PAIN HAS MANY CAUSES

We can see heel pain in a 10 year old child - we can see heel pain in a 45 year old jogger - and we can see heel pain in a 65 year old woman. This is one malady of the foot that can strike at any age This is because it has many causes.

The most common cause of heel pain is a tight plantar ligament - the ligament that starts from the heel bone itself, spans the arch and attaches at the front of the foot. A common complaint is that the foot hurts more after sitting for a while and then the person tries to get up. If the condition is left untreated a heel spur may develop

Heel pain can be treated successfully with simple methods such as strappings, physical therapy and medications. Surgery is only a last resort Lastly - obesity is an irritating factor, not a cause of heel pain.
