Huff, a native of Rappahannock, drove a regular bus route for ten years before beginning work as a mechanic in 1962. He doesn't recall exactly when he was made transportation superintendent and isn’t overly impressed with the title. “It was when Mutt (Atkins) quit. Whenever that was. That I didn't want. Huffs title as transportation superintendent might be mostly honorary but there's no doubt as to his skills as a mechanic. Working in a drafty, run down bus shop, lying on his back on a cement floor that’s colder than ice in the winter. Allie has kept the bus fleet running smoothly. It's a tribute to his talents that when the sheriffs department got county cars last year, the first place Sheriff W. A. Buntin looked for a mechanic was the school bus shop.
