Of course, what the Farm Bureau says would be a fair price and what processors like National Fruit actually offer are two different things and no one will know how different until price lists are mailed to orchardists some time in early September.
As of the moment, there are no guesses as to how close the two might be. As Dr. Lyons put it, only half in jest, “Guessing the prices that growers will get for their apples is like playing Russian Roulette.”
