Twelve-Day

German Pickle First Day - Gather 3 gallons of fresh cucumbers. Wash and put in brine strong enough to float an egg. Leave

in brine for six dajrs. Seventh Day - Drain off brine and cover cucumbers with boiling water. Eighth Day - Cut pickle in cubes about one inch. Cover with boiling water to which has been added two ounces of powered alum. Ninth Day - Drain off alum solution and cover pickle with boilding water. Tenth Day - Boil together 3 quarts of vinegar, two ounces of cinnamon sticks, one and one-half ounces of celery seeds, 8 pounds of sugar. Boil together and pour over pickle.

Eleventh Day - Drain vinegar mixture, boil and pour back over pickle.

Twelfth Day - Repeat the process of boiling vinegar mixture and pour over pickle. When cold they are ready to store away in glass jars.
