Feeder Cattle Sales: 4,068 head of feeder calves were sold through the special feeder sales in Virginia last week. Calves were averaging about $10 per hundred under prices received at the same week of sales a year ago.
Results of the Culpeper Feeder Calf Sale September 24: 1,040 steers averaged $67.07 and 601 heifers averaged $57.18.
Large and medium framed steers:
380-500 pds.-$69-$71 per hundred.
500-600 pds.-$66-$69 per hundred.
600-650 pds.-$66-$67 per hundred.
Comparable heifers averaged about $10 per hundred less.
Consignments are due September 30 for the October 15 Madison Yearling Sale and October 5 for the second Culpeper feeder calf sale. Consignments to both sales are limited to 2,000 head.
