At four the jury retired and shortly before 5 p.m. they returned a verdict of guilty of malicious wounding, recommending Douglas receive psychiatric help and sentencing him to from 5 to 20 years.
The judge sent them back to fix a specific time with Douglas adding “If you give me one, give me all 20!”
A few minutes later, the jury returned a second time with a 15 year sentence and recommendation for psychiatric help.
