defendant said. Going over the testimony he expected frory missing witnesses. Douglas said he wanted to ask state police officers why they'd called olT the investigation into the death of Richard Obenshein and why they'd planted eight pounds of confiscated marijuana on him. From secret service agents, he wanted to find out wfiy they'd been assigned to follow him. Douglas said he planned to ask doctors from Southwestern State Hospital why they'd first found him competent to stand trial and then changed their minds after "someone snuck around behind my back and convinced them to commit me."
Douglas said he wanted to question former White House advisor Dr. Peter Bourne —"who's liable to be the same person who calls himself Peter Marx"—on why he'd authorized a perscription Marx had illegally written for Douglas.
Also on the list of witnesses were Martin Halpren. director of the Center for National Security Studies; former CIA director Slanfield Turner and _ deceased Senatorial candidate Richard Obenshein who Douglas said is "probably in Cuba." In addition. Douglas said he needed a handwriting expert since the expert who had allegedly identified handwriting from John Marks and Peter Marx as being from the same person was now dead.
