To Baumgardner's objections. which were overruled. Payne said he was attempting to show Marx's prior violent record, a point relevant to Douglas' contention that he shot Marx in self-defense.
Marx acknowledged that he had been armed in that earlier incident with Buntin and Jenkins which occurred ten years ago. ‘T didn’t use those guns at that time or any subsequent time.” he said. Shortly thereafter, he added, he decided that "guns weren't compatible with the spiritual path in life.'.' Since 1974. Marx testified, he has not possessed a firearm, even for hunting.
