To the editor:

All of us should be indebted to Elisabeth and Ned Johnson for the time, effort and money spent in compiling and publishing their Rappahannock history.

Present residents and those who will live in Rappahannock in the future now have a most interesting^and

accurate recording of\he birth, development, and current growth of a great place to live, work, and grow old.

May our appreciation be actively expressed to the Johnsons personally and their product create in us the will and determination to see the county continue tgigrow in

such a manner tfia* its beauty be preserved and goods and services improved upon.

Our forbears have provided the solid foundation: what will we do from here on?

Might not we do well to apply Arnold Toynbee's challenging statement to the world to ourselves and this county? “Every good person and especially every leader should care intensely about what is going to happen to our world, not only for today, but after he is dead, and each should do what he can to make good prevail."
