“We haven't meant to be secretive." emphasized board member Nelson Lane as he gave the public its first look last week at preliminary floor plans for the $90,000 combination bus shop-central office building which the school board expects to have completed by the end of August.
In the five minutes set aside at the close of the agenda for questions from the audience, Sharon Kilpatrick asked at the May 11 meeting why the new building hasn't been discussed in open session. She specifically requested information on size, floor plan and type of construction. “If you can talk about that (the bus shopoffice) in executive session, then I assume you can discuss in executive session the entire school improvement program which we've heard nothing about for the past three months.”
