Later in the meeting, high school teacher Don Bomberger reported that an individual currently employed has used all personal sick leave for just such an illness. “Other teachers are willing to donate their unused sick leave for this person with no pressure.”
Massie suggested that the teacher in question approach the superintendent with a request for an extension in sick leave to be forwarded to the board. “I think we’re all compassionate to anyone who has an illness which is disabling." The board agreed, however, that it would be ill advised to adopt the sick leave bank proposal without knowing exactly what it entailed, just to meet the needs of one individual.
