The 36th annual renewal of the Virginia Foxhound Show will be held on Sunday, May 30th, at “Oatlands”, south of Leesburg, Virginia, beginning at 10 a.m.
Foxhounds from the Eastern United States and .Canada are expected to compete in the 55 classes offered in the American, English and Cross-Bred divisions. In addition, seven classes are offered for Working Terriers. The Virginia Foxhound Show is distinguished as the largest foxhound show in North America.
Mayor Gerald A. Gundry, MFH, Joint Master of the Duke of Beaufort’s Hounds, Badminton, England, will travel the Atlantic to place the entries in the English Foxhound division.
J. Martin Letts, MFH, Joint Master and Huntsman of the College Valley Hounds, Northumberland, England, will make his second visit to the Show, this time to judge American Foxhounds with Ginton P. Pitts, ex-MFH, Elkridge-Harford Hunt, Monkton, Maryland.
Mrs. Harry I. Nicholas, Jr., ex-MFH, Pickering Hunt, Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, and Robert H. Crompton III, MFH, Joint Master and Huntsman of Mr. Jeffords' Andrews Bridge Hounds, Christiana, Pennsylvania, will judge the Cross-Bred Foxhounds.
The very popular Terrier classes will be judged by Miss Meriel Atkinson of the Limerick Hunt, Ireland. Post entries will be accepted in the Terrier classes only until judging begins at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $8 in each Terrier class.
The usual Saturday afternoon Seminar will be held at the Carriage House at “Oatlands” on May 29th, beginning at 2 p.m.
