Benefit Bluegrass
A benefit bluegrass show sponsored by American Legion Post 330 will bring some of the nations top pickers, singers and strummers to Culpeper on Labor Day. Monday, September 6.
The line up includes the Osborne Brothers. Jimmy Martin. Larry Sparks. Rise 'N' Shine and the Outdoor Plumbing Co. with Tom “Cat" Reeder and Red Shiplev as emcees.
I he Labor Day show will be held from noon until 7 p.m. at the American Legion Park on Route 229 two miles north of Culpeper. Tickets at $7 in advance and $8 at the gate. Tickets may be purchased in advance from the Culpeper Record Den and Culpeper MusicCenter or by mailing a check or money order to Bluegrass. P.O. Box 812, Warrenton, Va. 22186.
Booster Club To Meet
The Rappahannock High School Booster Club will hold its first meeting of the school year at 8:00 September 20 in the High School cafeteria. At this meeting, the principal will be introduced to parents, there will be a question and answer session, and plans will be made for the "Friendship Follies" to be held October 16.
Workshop Scheduled
A workshop on prehistoric technology will be offered by the Thundcrbird Museum \ Archeological Park on Saturday. September 4th from 10 A M. to 3 P.M.
I he workshop will h>cus on the manufacture of stone tools, with an introduction to other technologies, such as pottery, cordage, basketry, and wild foods to be included as time and participant interest allow. Advance registration is suggested. Additional workshops are scheduled for September 18th. October 2nd and 16th. Labor Day Weekend is an excellent time to see the excavations in the archeological park, located between Front Royal and Lurav just off Route 340 at Limelon. The 1982 excavation season is coming to a close and the results of excavations at the Corral Site, Lanier Site. Horseshoe Site, and the Mill House Site will be visible. A museum staff member will be at the sites to describe the archeological work and the prehistoric lifewavs. Visitors to the Museum are also welcome to use the picnic area in the park. Sunset tours will be offered at 6:00 P.M on Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. 1 For further information and reservations, call Dr.
