wrong one.

Gimbing back up was slow but not so difficult as the descent. Groping upwards, trusting untrustworthy handholds. 1 got back to the top and after some searching, found a way along tlve west side. I felt pushed for time now and rushed along the crest, till 1 came to where the rock face opened into a deep chasm. This was the break I needed along the east side.

From the crest, it was no problem getting to the bottom of the chasm. Whippoorwills were calling as 1 started down. Following it down was reasonably safe but difficult because of all the vines and unstable rocks. It was almost completely dark when I got down to where the woods opened up into some talus slopes, rhe slopes weren't as steep here, but the lower I got, the larger the broken rocks became.

Finally there were level woodlands and 1 tripped over a wire fence. That meant the old road (visible from the crest) couldn’t be too far below. I found it soon and followed it back towards the glade where 1 had set up camp. It was pitch dark when I got there and it took me quite a while to pick my way around the marsh to the campsite.

I was thankful that I didn’t have a loved one or worse, a father-and-daughter along as you did. Now I understand why it shook you up a little. Like you, I like these wild places but exposed myself to too much danger last night.
