the projectors for a free series of patriotic films that will continue throughout the day at Gay Street Theater. Other It A A('-sponsored activities on the Fourth include a photographic exhibit at the Middle St. Gallery and an all-day horse shoe competition at the Washington fire hall grounds.
Nationall - syndicated columnist James J. Kilpatrick will once again be scooping out homemade ice cream at Trinity Church’s ice cream parlor on wheels. In addition, the church will also have a little sidewalk cafe set up at the corner of Main Street. Volunteers from Washington’s fire and rescue companies will serve barbecue on a bun and roasted ears of corn-on-thecob all afternoon at the Monument Grounds next to the courthouse. Around 5 p.m., roast pork done to perfection after slowly cooking in a pit all day will be ready for the firemen to dish out with homemade cole slaw and baked beans.
Washington Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary will have fresh baked goods, hot dogs, and coffee for sale at the town hall next door to the Monument Grounds and inside, the Auxiliary’s Thrift Shop will also be open. Box lunches prepared by the ladies of the First Baptist Church will also be available at the tent next door to the Rappahannock Medical (Center’s parking lot.
