Invitation To Avon Hall
Visitors and county folks celebrating the Fourth of July in town may carry their picnic suppers over to the hillsides at Avon Hall where Mr. and Mrs. William M. Carrigan, for the 22nd year, invite the people of Rappahannock to a special evening program and fireworks display around the lake.
Spectators should bring plastic sheets, blankets or chairs to sit on the grassy slopes for activities that begin at 5:30 with a foot race for children 12 and under competing for cash prizes.
Next will come the grand march led by the Pawtowmack Ancients Fyfe and Drum Corps from Arlington followed by the dedication and sealing of the Rappahannock County Time Capsule to be opened on July 4th, 2083. Letters, documents, reports and pictures will carry a message to the future of what life in the county is like today.
