“This church was constituted June lit, 1983 by Benjamin Ficklin and Silas Bruce, and being called to the charge therof on that day, I consented to serve them on the 22nd of the same month, it being their first church meeting day, the fourth Saturday in June 1833” — from Rev. Silas Bruce's diary.
With that start 150 years ago, Mt. Lebanon began as a congregation. This Sunday, the little church at Scrabble will celebrate its sesquicentennial, marking a century and a half in the same year as Rappahannock County.
Last week, Mt. Lebanon’s two senior parishioners, Mr. C. B. Johnson and Mr. Cary Thornhill, gathered with a few friends to reminisce.
