In response to a notice of appeal filed by lawyers for Potomac Edison in the Sperry ville powerline case, local landowners are organizing their forces.
The newly formed Rappahannock Homeowners Association will meet at the courthousei in Washington on Thursday, June 30, at 8 p.m. to discuss action in support of Susan and Rill Cameron, who challenged the right of the power company to upgrade its existing line using an old right-of-way. The Camerons areone of 25 Sperrvville property owners over whose land the new 172.5 kilovolt line — a carrying capacity increase of 1(» times over — crosses or is proposed to cross.
On May 10, Circuit Court J udge Shore Robertson granted the Camerons a permanent injunction, directing the power company to either restore the Cameron’s property to its pre-existing condition (before the old 34.5 KV line was rebuilt to 172.5KVs) or initiate condemnation proceedings.
It is a notice of appeal to that ruling that Pot Ed's attorneys have filed with the Virginia Supreme Court.
