John Compton

John Marion Compton, 06, of Castleton, died on Monday. June 20, 198.3, near Castleton.
A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late Marion and Polly Jane Cloud Compton. He was the owner of a trucking business.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Weakley Compton; four sons, James E. Compton, Jack M. Compton and Kay Thomas Compton, all of Castleton and Jiichard H. Compton of Amissville; four daughters, Mrs. Frances Jane Fincham and Mrs. Ruby Let* Turner, both of Rixeyville, Mrs. Dorothy Mae Fincham of Culpeper anti Mi s. Betty Anne Mathews of Front Royal anti eight grandchildren.
Also surviving are five brothers, Albert H. Compton of Amissville, David D. Compton, Jack E. Compton anti Brown E. Compton, all of Castleton and Charles W. Compton of Front Royal anti a sister, Miss Sadie L. Compton of Castleton. Another son, John Davis Compton, predeceased him in 1960.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday at Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper by the Rev. Archie Clatterbuck anti the Rev. Lindsay Savage. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper.
Pallbearers were Waveriv Frazier, James Massie. Sr., Rodney Bywaters, ftoy L. Knighting, Richard Settle, Cleveland Bailey, Woody Tharpe, Butch Dombrowsky, John A. Jenkins, Jr. and Harold Newlin.
