At the first meeting of the Rappahannock Association for Arts and the Community (RAAC) board of directors, officers were selected for one-year terms. They are: Sid Gottlieb, president; Frank Reynolds, president-elect; fiscal vicepresident, Linda Dietel; treasurer, Diane Bruce; and secretary, Libby Snead.
Following the election of officers, new board members were introduced and the past three month’s activities are reviewed.
Gottlieb announced that RAAC’s application to the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities and Public Policy for a grant had been successful. RAAC has $5,000 to produce Voices of Rappahannock: A Sesquicentennial Celebration. The grant covers historical research, script writing, rehearsal and production of a pageant called Rappahannock Portraits, a series of lectures on Rappahannock history, and the production of an exhibit and pamphlet available at the project’s completion.
