While fresh air and the great outdoors are abundant in Rappahannock, less easy to come by is wholesome, supervised outdoor fun for county youngsters. The day camp benefitted county residents in many ways, not just the kids, but the teenagers who found suitable and responsible employment, and parents, those who helped and those who simply sent their children, confident that they would be well cared for and safe.
The success of the Community Cooperative 4-H camp for one week set the stage for an expanded program next summer. The center will be available, the children ready, the fresh air and sunshine certainly on hand. All that’s needed is a willingness on the part of the community to participate in the planning and support of a longer summer day camp program. We urge all Rappahannock citizens to give that support in the months ahead.
