Older Drivers May Earn Discount
Virginia driven age 66 and older will be eligible for reduced auto insurance rates after January 1,1986 when they complete a safe driving course approved by the Division of Motor Vehicles, according to a new state kw.
DMV Commissioner Donald E. Williams said each insurance company will be allowed to set the discount amount. Companies must provide reduced rates when approved courses are completed after January 1, but they have the option of offering lower rates to individuals who complete approved courses before that date.

After completing a course, drivers are eligible for a discount for three yean and may renew their eligibility by repeating the course.
DMV has approved “66 Alive,” a course sponsored by the American Association of Retired Persons. The course is offered at 26 Virginia locations, at a cost of |7 per person.
