Reynolds used information summarized from reports by professionals from state agencies and other counties to compare the proposed site with the guidelines of the comprehensive plan. "The geologist’s report that we have and all of the information that we can find shows us that the soils of this particular site...are the types of soils that are rather porous, loose and there is a tremendous problem with seepage,” Reynolds said. Due to the problems with seepage, Reynolds said that several professionals had stated that a landfill at the site would not be a good idea.
Information from a professional geologist indicated that one of the fruits mentioned by commissioner Miller is located on the proposed site. “I don’t think that the Board of Supervisors was aware of that at the time, and I don’t thinft that they did it in reckless disregard of that I think that they did it without the knowledge of that,” said Reynolds. “I’m sure when they have learned as much as we already know about this particular situation they will realize what that problem will be.”
