The coming of m new year, like a turning point, is a time for reflection and a time for looking ahead. As editor of the Rappahannock News for eight months, I’ve taken some time to think about the past and future.
I’m thankfhl for having had the opportunity to serve Rappahannock County as the editor of this weekly newspaper. I’ve learned firsthand the awesome responsibility a newspaper has to the public. I’ve also learned about the cooperative, as well as the driving, force a newspaper can be in a community.
Especially here, a newspaper needs participation by citizens. No AP or UPI wires tie the Rappahannock News in with the rest of the world, nor would we want it that way.
People who live here are the new links that are most important. And Pm thankful so many people help to keep this newspaper abreast of the news by taking time to call, write or talk to us when they see us.
The people of Rappahannock are special. They love their county with a fierceness
