Rappahannock’s Planning Commiaaion voted to recommend to the Bond of Supervisors that they abandon any further consideration of the proposed landfill site on Route 621. The commission meeting on Wednesday, December 19 was attended by approximately 45 members of the Concerned Citizens of Rappahannock County (CCRC), and members of the organization and their legal couned, Frank Reynolds, presented information to the commissioners in support of their position that the proposed site is in conflict with the county’s comprehensive plan.
Before the public hearing on the landfill began, planning commissioner Newbill Miller advised the commission that he would be abstaining from any discussion or vote on the matter. Miller told the commission that his name had appeared on a list of property owners in the area of the proposed site whose land could sustain a 10-20 percent depredation in value if the landfill is approved.
