The Teen Weekend traditionally held in the Northern District will be held Feb. 6-8 this year. Teen Weekend was originally called a Business Management Workshop. It has since evolved into a weekend of learning about 4-H, self analysis and entertainment.

tere has been an interest in incorporating some economic and

finess, management principles into ''this yew’s Teen Weekend, but, of course, not at the expense of fun. After considerable thought, a new plan has been developed for teaching these skills.

Following an evening of learning some basics of business management Saturday will be spent managing a business. Each participant’s registration fee will include $5 which will be collected and retained for business purposes throughout the weekend. Based on a first-come-firstserved basis, persons will have the opportunity to select from the following business areas: lodging, food or entertainment.

Two companies, competing against each other, will be formed in each business area. The goals of each company are: (1) to estimate the demand for and thus the price for their product; (2) based on estimated demand, develop a budget from which they will obtain a bank loan; (3) advertise; (4) use computers for recording all financial dealings; (5) make a profit given the real budget constraint of $5 per person; (6) develop a profit and loss statement.
