The same chapter in Revelations speaks of the “seat” of the dragon; and the only real correlation I have ever come across is the seat of Emperor Hirohito of Japan, which is called the “Dragon Throne.” Japan is, of course, our mjyor competitor in the race for Artificial Intelligence .. . super computers like HAL in the movie 2001. The same prophecy says, “The image of the beast should both speak, and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast (to be) killed.”
The false prophecy of a high-tech future promises that its “wizards” will deliver many modem “miracles.” And already, even here in Rappahannock County, we see an eroding of worship of God now that by lay we cannot worship in any “place’’ except the already established churches, without the permission of a county board. And this used to be a free land.
In Habakkuk it says, “Woe to him that sayeth ... to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.” The micro-processer, the “soul” of all teaching computers, is made of quartz - a dumb stone. The quartz is refined into silicon, grown into crystals, sliced microthin, engraved with electronic circuitry, stacked, and aluminum (a silver-colored metal) is then forced into the etchings as a conductor, then the chip is bound with actual gold, wired, and that’s all. Habakkuk also speaks of graven images, calling them “teachers of lies. ”
Many people in Rappahannock know that these Bible prophecies are coming true in these times which are at hand - others understand that the present age (including its last gasp, high-tech vision) is dying while a New Age is dawning. They ought to know that the Christ-like values are human, low-tech values: faith, hope, love! And they ought to also heed what the experts say about the psychological and moral evil apt to be created by these machines.
