approved budget, each lodging company can buy the number of rooms for which they can obtain a bank loan from Mono-Poly Bank. (Part of the $5 will be used as collateral.) The lodging companies will advertise rooms for rent for a specific price. With their $5, participants can rent new rooms and re-locate Saturday night.

Mono-Poly Inc. will offer five menu options to the two food companies. Again, companies will prepare a budget, obtain a bank loan, advertise and attempt to sell the food they have purchased for a profit.

The two entertainment companies will have five options from which they can each choose one for Saturday evening. They will be involved in the same business management planning as other companies. Participants mil have two choices of entertainment for the evening. The companies will be competing and advertising for business.

Each person has only $5 to spend on the business of which they are a partner and to purchase other business’ services. Therefore, each person must not only help manage a company, but allocate his or her own wealth.

Each company will present a profit and loss statement Sunday morning. Economic principles will be discussed in lieu of what happened to each company.

On their way home, young people can think about what it actually takes to run a business. They can also think about other career opportunities for them, since all will encouraged to visit the newly established “career center” at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center.
