An analysis of the replies indicates that the grants have indeed provided encouragement and welcome financial assistance to Rappahannock students as was Margaret Leonard’s desire.
The prevalent answer to the question ‘‘Ih what way did the scholarship help you?” was alopg the lines expressed in this reply: “From a pragmatic standpoint the money certainly helped in paying educational expenses. . .From a more philosophical standpoint, and no less important, simply winning the scholarship was exciting. It encouraged me to work hard and gave me confidence. I appreciated the recognition and support."
This year, the Garden Club will again award the Leonard Memorial Scholarships. Students at RCHS will be notified by the school’s administration oj the procedure for applying for the awards. For more information contact the RCHS office.
