Re-elected Hubert Gilkey as chairman and Charles Estes as vicechairman and named Ellis Bingham as the local official to represent Rappahannock on the RappahannockRapidan Planning District Commission and Mike Massie as the supervisors’ representative on the county Planning Commission.
• Directed Mr. McCarthy and Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke to draft rules of procedure for board meetings to be Considered in February.
• Agreed to the Sheriffs Department’s request for consideration of breaking the current monthly pay period for county employees into twice a month pay periods. Clerk Diane Bruce volunteered to investigate the possibilities of computerizing the county payroll, either through contracting with a payroll company or purchasing software for the leased computer used by her office.
• Unanimously adopted Supervisor Nelson Lane’s proposal that the Rappahannock School Board be instructed to provide the Board of Supervisors with copies of all school audits. “After'all, we are ultimately responsible for county funds,” Mr. Lane said.
• Re-appointed Mary Edna Schaeffer to a three-year term as one of the county’s three representatives on the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board.
