LLB degree from Indiana University, Indianapolis. During World War II, he was a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army.
After retiring in 1965 as chairman of the board of the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company, Baltimore, he returned to Rappahannock County, purchased and restored the old Dearing Place, renaming it Caledonia.
Survivors include his wife Imogene Barker Pullen, a son John T. Pullen, and a granddaughter Nancy Caspari of San Francisco, Calif. A grandson William E. Pullen II predeceased him. Local survivors include the children of his two late sisters, Fanny, wife of Edwin M. Eastham, and Mary, wife of Franklin D. Eastham.
A memorial service was held at the Johnson-Foster Funeral Home; Hollywood. Interment will be made later at the Flint Hill United Methodist Church.
