Lecture by James J. Kilpatrick
On Jan. 18, Rappahannock County residents will have an opportunity which journalism students would envy: a lecture by James J. Kilpatrick on “The Writer’s Art.”
Mr. Kilpatrick’s talk will innaugurate a new program series, cosponsored by the Rappahannock County Library and RAAC, called “Monday Night Alternative.” It will provide residents with an opportunity to hear a variety of speakers in an informal setting, at the Gay St. Theatre in Washington. Although Mr. Kilpatrick’s lecture will be held early, the sponsors plan the fourth Monday of each month as the usual time for the series.
Mr. Kilpatrick’s lecture will be given at the Gay St. Theatre on Monday, Jan. 18, beginning at 7:30 p.m. A reception will follow at the Rappahannock County Library.
Sock Hop at RCES
A sock hop sponsored by the PTA will be held Friday, Jan. 15, from 7-9 p.m. in the RCES gym. All proceeds will go to the Special Education classes to assist them with .costs of attending Special Olympics in the spring. No RCHS students will be admitted.
Dance at Amissville

Amissville Volunteer Fire Department Saturday, Jan. 23, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Proper dress is required and persons attending must be 21 years of age. For reservations or additional information call 937-4367.
Literacy Volunteers to meet
Rappahannock Literacy Volunteers will hold their monthly meeting Friday, Jan. 15, at 9 a.m. in Trinity Parish Hall. Anyone wishing help in improving reading skills will be cordially welcomed.
4-H Adventure team to meet
The 4-H Rappahannock Adventure Team will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Cfiurch. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
Northern Forage conference
The Northern Forage Conference will be held Feb. 4 at Chancellor Ruritan Building, Rt. 3, west of Fredericksburg. Registration is at 9:15 a.m. and the cost is $5. Foe additional information or registration forms, call the Extension Office at 675-3619.
Woman’s Club to meet
The Rappahannock Woman’s Club will meet Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 8 p.m. at the home of Kim Hovis in Washington. All members are urged to attend.
‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’
The movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 16 and 17. This movie will be shown at 2 p.m. both days and at 7:30 Saturday evening. The adaptation of the Grimm’s tale about the fair damsel, the Wicked Queen and the short bearded guys is suffused with song, goodwill and memorable animation. Many images will stay with grown-ups too. The movie is rated G. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
ARB to meet
The Architectural Review Board will meet Thursday, Jan. 21, at 8 p.m. in the courthouse. Interested persons are urged to attend.
