Sports physicals offered
Although the 1989 school year is barely over, administrators are already preparing for next year. RCHS Athletic Director Mike Lacika announced that physicals for students planning to try out for sports will be offered this month. The free physicals will be given, for boys, on Friday, June 23 from 9:30-11:30 a.m.; and girls, Monday, June 26 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Mr. Lacika reminds all prospective athletes that anyone, including cheerleaders, who plans to try out for fall sports must have a completed physical before they will be allowed to practice.
This is only a test’
A test of the new Virginia Emergency Broadcast System will be conducted sometime Thursday, June 15. The system, "according to EBS chairman John Harding of radio station WRVA in Richmond, will enable emergency information tp be effectively and efficiently provided to the residents of the Commonwealth by both radio and television broadcasts. The test will also be relayed by the Virginia News Network, the Associated Press and United Press International, which will relay the test message in text form when the EBS system is activated. All radio and televisions stations in the state have agreed to participate in the new system, Mr. Harding said.
