Mt. Salem Baptist meeting
House has been entered in the U.S. Department of the Interior’s National Register of Historic Places. In the Register’s nomination form, Mt. Salem is described as “an excellently preserved and welldocumented example of rural Virginia church of the mid-19th century” with an architecturally conservative exterior more in character with F ederal-style buildings of the preceding generation.

Many types of artistry
were in evidence at the opening of the Small Farmers’ Market last Saturday. The combination of people, their ideas and energies was a winning one; the day was a great success and proof that a valuable new resource has come to Rappahannock. The wares of the Market showed the careful work of many hands: homegrown vegetables and strawberries picked that morning, a wealth of freshly baked goods including whole wheat and French breads, whole wheat croissants, blueberry muffins, carrot cake, breadsticks, carob brownies and granola, in many cases still warm from the oven.
