The Division of forestry reports

that 315 forest fires burned 891.0 acres of forest land if* the 16-county Northern PiedrwSnt District to date for this .V^ar. In Rappahannock County, 2 'fires have burned 5.0 acres of fewest land. Last year, the first five months showed a total of 468 fifes, and these fires burned 1143.0 forested acres in the Jforthern Piedmont area. I * Miss Carol Parrish, daughter a* Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Parrish, Thornton River Farms, Viewtown is a member of the graduating class of The Baldwin School, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania receiving diplomas at commencement exercises on Saturday, J,une 14. Carol served on her corridor counsel, on the social activities board and has been active in dramatics. She plans to enter Lesley College in the fall.

Rappahannock Supervisor’s

appointed Fanning Baumgardner as building inspector, effective immediately, at their meeting last Thursday. However, they noted that Baumgardner will make no actual inspections until after September 1. Virginia State law retires that each county “shall appoint a building inspector,” Commonwealth’s attorney George Davis noted.
