I’ve heard some Republicans griping about the 10 million or so the three candidates spent in the primary. My reply is. “So what? Unless you contributed, it’s not your money they’re spending and there's lots more where that came from."
There’s no danger the GOP nominee won’t be able to raise the money needed for a general election campaign, particularly since fat-cat contributions can give all they want in a state election unlike the restrictions imposed in federal elections.
The bottom line of the primary, whoever the winner, is that no Republican can say his man was cheated out of the nomination by some shady back-room dealings. The candidates took their case to the voters and the Republican voters spoke. That is a true democratic process unlike the mass meetingconvention process that often hinges on fights over obscure rules and the ability of presiding officers to control meetings.
