Rescue squad open house
The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and as part of the observance it will hold an open house on Saturday, June 24 at the squad building on Main St. from 11 a. m4p.m. There will be live music by Mixed Country, CPR demonstrations, free blood pressure testing, tours of the squad’s ambulances, refreshments, balloons and door prizes, and SVRS members will be on hand to answer questions about the squad’s services. The public is invited to attend.
Father's Day breakfast
The Flint Hill Fire Department will be holding an all-you-can-eat breakfast on Father’s Day, June 18 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the fire hall. The menu will consist of sausage, gravy, biscuits, bacon, eggs, apples, potatoes, fruit, coffee and tea. Cost for adults is $5, 6-12 years old $4, under 5 free.
Amissville carnival set
Amissville Fire Department’s annual carnival will be held June 28-July 1. Anyone interested in entering categories in the parade, which will be held June 29. is asked to contact Sheila Scott, 937^4357.
Ole Hollow reunion planned
Families, friends and community members are invited to attend the^annual Ole Hollow reunion on Sunday, June ,25 at noon at Thornton’s Gap Regular Baptist Church near Sperryville. Services will be held at Beech Spring Baptist Church on Sunday, June 18 at 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
Business Council to meet
The Sperryville Business Council will meet on Thursday, June 15 at 8 p.m. at Carriage House, home of Tom and Danielle Junk. All members and interested business persons are urged to attend.
Jenkins reunion
The seventh annual family reunion of the late Aubrey R. and Ellen Baker Jenkins will be held on Sunday, June 25 at the Rappahannock Park, Rt. 211, near Washington. Animal Welfare meeting
The Rappahannock Animal Welfare League will meet June 17 at 11:30 a.m. at the Washington fire hall. Speakers from Peta and Action 81 will speak to those attending on “What can happen to your lost pets”. For additional information contact Francine Nadler at 675-3740.
Thornhill-Butler reunion
The Thornhill and Butler families will hold their annual family reunion, Sunday, June 18 at 1 p.m. at the Rappahannock Park, Washington. “Bring a picnic lunch and beverage,” said an organizer.
Flint Hill carnival planned
Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department’s annual carnival will be held August 2-5. Scheduled events include ride all evening Wednesday for one low price beginning at 7 p.m.; Thursday evening the parade beginning at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday awarding of prizes which will include a 1989 Dodge. Area residents are urged to mark their calendars and make plans to attend.
