“I think Mr. Millers comments were way off base. He’s been in this position for 25 years. He above all should know this. We’re trying to look five to ten years down the road. The pressures from outside counties may well warrant a planner. That could be the cheapest answer. This job is becoming almost a full-time position. That’s not what it was meant to be.

"The people in the county deserve to have presented to them the whole story: what land use is costing us - no insurance or insurance less than last year . . . The people that just say ‘open space’ and ignore the people are not giving both sides.

“One thing that really bothers me is taxing land at only $250 per acre. The county is shooting itself in the foot. What we don't take the federal and state government does. We’re going to look into this very heavily. If we don’t, I don’t see how we can hold the taxes next year at even 75 cents,” Col. Bingham concluded.
